About The Author
Bea Maskery AKA Jaxx's Mum is a 34 year old Dog Boarder living in South Lincolnshire, UK. She never thought she would become an author, but after seeing Jaxx so upset on the lead up to World Book Day in March 2025, she knew she had to step in and make a plan. Like many other autistic children, Jaxx struggles with the idea of dressing up and pretending to be someone else, so Bea decided to make Jaxx the main character in his own book, so he could participate in World Book Day and not be singled out as the only child who did not dress up. Jaxx picked out his own outfit and Bea used photographs of him wearing this outfit throughout his book, and wrote a story based on real experiences that Jaxx had recently faced - that was the moment 'Jaxx The Magnificent' was born! Bea received so much positive feedback from other parents of special needs children, she knew she had to get it published!
Originally, Bea had no plans to write any more books, but this soon changed and she has now made 'Jaxx The Magnificent' a series of books which navigate Jaxx's friendships, experiences at school, adventures and sensory overloads. The series encourages understanding, compassion and confidence, perfect for children, families, libraries and classrooms.
Having volunteered for The Willoughby Academy, her local Special Educational Needs and Disabilities School, Bea decided that 25% of all book sales would be donated to them as a thank you for all of the incredible work they do with not only other autistic children, but children with other complex special needs.
Mrs Daniel
"These book are the perfect insight into understanding children with autism. They are great books that can be enjoyed by both children and adults!"
Miss Hundley
"These are really wonderful books. Reading them brought tears to my eyes. I love that the word 'autism' is referred to as 'magnificence' as it makes it so much more positive!"
Mrs Clem
"These books need to be distributed across all schools in the UK. Autism is badly stereotyped. So many people don't understand autism and education is key. These books certainly helps educate those who don't understand."
